A Journey Has Begun…

1 Jan 2016 / Emma Smyth

It’s the new year, a new beginning, a fresh start. And while many are spending today regretting the volume of alcohol they consumed last night, the drunken texts, the dance moves… My thoughts are consumed with what may come of the months ahead.

I look down and feel a kick, he’s always active at this time of day. He’s due in early February, my first born and due to a difficult pregnancy, I am counting down the days until his arrival! But he’s not the only thing starting it’s life this year. This is the year I put into motion, my life long dream of starting my own business. This is the year I branch out from my wonderful home in Accident and Emergency, leave the family of professionals I have come to depend on and embark on my journey to fulfil a long-standing passion in the field of Aesthetics!

As long as I can remember, I’ve had an unhealthy obsession with symmetry, detail, balance. I studied Graphic Design at A-Level and frequently lost hours, days even to perfecting the smallest detail, always grateful for my persistence when viewing the final piece. This passion hasn’t faded over the years, but transformed from a passion for artwork, to a passion for people.

I come from a family of health professionals. Amongst us, a GP, a Midwife, a retired Accident and Emergency Nurse and a carer for adults with learning difficulties. So it was only natural that I gravitated towards the profession myself. I’ve spent my years since qualifying, working in the Accident and Emergency setting. I love it’s complexity, warmth and determination. I’ve met some amazing people over the years, colleagues and patients alike and learnt from some of the most experienced professionals whom I admire greatly. It has instilled in me, a sense of modesty and a great respect for education.

These values will be the foundation of my business. I’ve spent my time researching, engrossing myself in literature, building on my existing understanding of the human anatomy and making it relevant to the wonderful world of Aesthetics.

It’s time to consolidate my passions and see my vision realised. Dreamed about for many years, born in 2016, welcome to the world, Countryside Cosmetics!
