Anti-Wrinkle treatments are a great way to improve the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles without resorting to surgery. By delivering a small amount of botulinum toxin (Botox®) to problem areas, we can relax the targeted muscles and temporarily reduce their ability to fold the skin. Once in effect, skin is able to rejuvenate naturally without this pressure, leading to the softening of the facial lines commonly associated with ageing.
Choosing the right medical clinician is key to obtaining your desired outcome with every injector offering a unique artistic flare and level of service. At Countryside Cosmetics, Nurse Emma Smyth prides herself on providing safe, minimally invasive treatments with undetectable results for those seeking a more natural enhancement.
When administered by a skilled professional, wrinkle relaxing is considered to be a very safe and effective treatment.
New clients are required to have a face-to-face consultation to ensure suitability for treatment. However following this, procedural time is brief, taking only 10-15 minuets to complete. The results of treatment are gradual, taking between 4-14 days to be in full effect. A review is required at 2-3 weeks following all initial treatments to ensure client satisfaction. Results last up to 3 months initially, though longevity generally improves with repeated treatments.
Treatments with Botox® may include: Horizontal forehead lines, frown lines, crow’s feet, downturned mouth corners, gummy smile, bunny lines (nose) or the reduction of excess sweating.
Treatment Reviews (2-3 weeks after initial treatment)
Treatment reviews are often referred to as ‘top ups’ and this can quite be misleading. The review appointment is required to assess whether additional treatment is needed in order to obtain the desired result. Unfortunately, it is not an opportunity to perform the procedure entirely again to increase longevity as this would result in overdosing and undesirable outcomes.
The most common areas that require extra injections are above the tail of the eyebrows, but caution must be taken to ensure that the natural arch the brow isn’t flattened through over treatment.Book Now
When we talk about Anti-Wrinkle Injections, we are referring to small injections of the protein botulinum toxin. When injected into a muscle, the solution temporarily blocks the messages from the nerve that cause it to contract. There are many brands of botulinum toxin, the most common of which is Botox®. Other brands include Bocouture and Azzalure. However, at Countryside Cosmetics we only use Botox®.
Typically, results are visible within the first few days. However the full extent of the treatment will not be realised until 12-14 days post procedure. Your Nurse practitioner will schedule a review appointment with you for two to three weeks after your initial treatment, to ensure you are pleased with the results and provide you with a top-up if required.
You may have a small amount of localised redness, but this will resolve rapidly, allowing you to continue with your day as usual.
Bruising can be minimised by avoiding aspirin and alcohol for 24 hours pre and post treatment. It is important after your treatment that you do not rub or massage the area, take hot baths or engage in strenuous exercise. You will receive an comprehensive aftercare advice sheet following your treatment to ensure you leave Countryside Cosmetics feeling confident after your procedure, and are able to obtain the best results.
Botox ® is a popular anti-wrinkle treatment used to treat dynamic facial lines. These occur as a result of making facial expressions, such as frowning, raising your eyebrows and smiling. As the muscles contract, the skin creases causing lines to appear. As the muscle relaxes, these creases reduce or disappear completely. Over time, these areas of over-use become damaged and the lines become more permanent or ‘static’. Timely treatment of dynamic lines may result in the prevention of static lines forming, and could reduce existing lines by preventing creases and allowing the skin time to rejuvenate.
Treatment time typically takes 10-15 minutes. Nurse Prescriber Emma Smyth will observe your facial muscles and discuss the desired outcomes during your consultation. Pre treatment photographs are always taken, but are kept strictly confidential. The areas for treatment will be marked out on your skin, and then each site will receive a small injection of Botox® using a very fine needle. A small bump will appear immediately under the skin where the medication has been administered, but will disappear rapidly as the Botox ® is absorbed. Arnica gel will be applied to the treatment areas to aid healing, and you will also be provided with an ice-pack pre and post treatment to reduce the risk of bruising.
Treatment effects vary based on the individual, but typically results last up to 3 months and fade gradually seeing movement slowly return. However, longevity of results increases with repeated treatments.
Botox® was used in the 1970’s as a treatment for patients suffering with eye squints, by weakening the over-active eye muscle. Since then, it has been used to treat a variety of medical conditions such as facial squint, spasmodic neck, excessive sweating and migraine, as well as symptoms of disease progression for Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease and Cerebral Palsy patients. The cosmetic use of Botox® has since become widespread across the globe as a treatment for the reduction of wrinkles.
