Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers

The ageing face is a complex phenomenon that poses many challenges to medical injectors. Over time, facial fat pads begin to loose volume and the laxity of our facial ligaments, (the anatomical structures responsible for maintaining the position of the fat pads) increases. When combined with the effects of gravity, sagging is inevitable.

Understanding the ageing process allows us to correctly diagnose and treat its symptoms accordingly. Today there are many innovative non-surgical treatments available which aim to do exactly that. Dermal Fillers are an exciting range of injectable products that help to restore bony structures, revolumise fat and hydrate the facial tissues to enhance and rejuvenate skin.

Choosing the right medical clinician is key in obtaining your desired outcome, with every injector offering a unique artistic flare and level of service. At Countryside Cosmetics, Nurse Emma Smyth prides herself on providing safe, minimally invasive treatments with undetectable results for those seeking a natural enhancement.

Nurse Emma works with the highest calibre of hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers, sourced directly from regulated UK pharmacies, with no less than 12-18 months longevity (compared with cheaper products on the market lasting only 3-6 months). Understanding that any first treatment can feel daunting, Emma will kindly guide you through everything you need to know about your procedure, to build your confidence and put you completely at ease. With generous treatment time slots, your experience at Countryside Cosmetics will be uniquely relaxing.

Over the years, Nurse Emma has fine-tuned her injecting techniques to improve safety and minimise associated trauma. And since the introduction of cannulas at Countryside Cosmetics (round ended needles) the risk of procedural bruising has been significantly reduced. A little swelling however is still a very normal part of the healing process, though this only tends to last a couple of days post treatment.

Every treatment varies and the brand of filler and number of syringes will be entirely dependent on the desired outcome, financial commitment and anatomy of the client.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dermal Fillers are injectable products used to cosmetically enhance facial features, restore volume loss and fill in facial lines. They should only be administered by a medical practitioner whose knowledge and understanding of the relevant anatomy will help to minimise the risk complications and allow effective management in the event of one.

Results of Dermal Filler treatments are instant. However, some localised inflammation is common, particularly with lip injections, and therefore it may take up to two weeks to see the final results, though most commonly this settles after 2-3 days.

Dermal Fillers usually take around 20 minutes to administer. You will meet with your Nurse Prescriber Emma Smyth to discuss the desired results and decide a treatment plan together. Topical anaesthetic will be applied prior to your treatment to minimise any discomfort before treatment in administered.

There are different categories of Dermal Filler, both natural and synthetic. Countryside Cosmetics works with the FDA approved Juvederm, Belotero and Teosyal ranges due to their excellent safety profiles and lasting results. These brands contain hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar found in the body that absorbs moisture and maintains skin hydration. Facial fillers arrive in a pre-packed syringe and contain the smooth gel ready for treatment. The gel also contains lidocaine, a local anaesthetic, to reduce discomfort during the procedure.

The results of Dermal Filler treatments vary depending on the individual, but most products last 9-12 months.

Dermal fillers can be used to treat a variety of problem areas such as: cheeks, jawline, tear troughs, marionette/nasolabial folds, mouth corners and chin.

Bruising can be minimised by avoiding aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs and alcohol for 24 hours pre and post treatment. It is important after your treatment that you do not rub or massage the area, take hot baths or engage in strenuous exercise. We advise you sleep with your head elevated on a pillow for the first night following your procedure. You will receive a comprehensive aftercare advice sheet following your treatment to ensure you leave Countryside Cosmetics feeling confident after your procedure, and are able to obtain the best results.
